All about Sisterhood

Hoje em dia, parece que a indústria da moda está fascinada com irmãs.
As relações entre irmãs desde à muito tempo que são alvo de curiosidade e até fascínio, as rivalidades, amizades, cumplicidades, sendo retratadas en inúmeras séries, filmes e, até, editoriais.
As gémeas Olsen, consideradas as mais bem vestidas pela Vogue no ano passado , Elle e Dakota Fanning, capa da W de Dezembro e nesse mesmo mês um artigo/editorial dedicado especialmente a irmãs famosas. 
E, de facto, nalguns casos parece que a moda e estilo lhes corre nas veias, que é algo que lhes foi passado pelos genes, que nasceram para ser it girls, outras foram ganhando essa "veia" com o passar dos anos e depois de algumas más escolhas.
O que é certo é que agora são consideradas algumas das mulheres mais bem vestidas momento, e algumas delas nem 18 anos têm, é inacreditável.
Como Cara e Poppy Delevingne, que em qualquer evento em que apareçam apresentam-se sempre perfeitas quer num estilo casual ou num look red carpet, mas mantendo-se sempre fiéis ao seu estilo, ou as irmãs Brandolini e as Courtin-Clarins. E o que têm em comum todas elas? Inspiram a forma de vestir de muitas pessoas pelo mundo fora, são verdadeiras trendsetters.

Nowadays it seems like the fashion industry is fascinated with sisters.
The relationships between siblings have been for a long time a target of curiosity and fascination, their rivalries, friendships, complicity, their bond, being transported to numerous tv shows and movies and even editorials.
The Olsen twins, considered the most stylish by Vogue last year, Elle and Dakota Fanning at the cover of W in December and on that same issue of the magazine an article/editorial specially dedicated to celebrity sisters.
And, it's a fact, that in some cases it seems like they have fashion and style running through their veins, like it's something that was passed to them by their genes, that they were born to be it girls, others were just gaining that sense of style throughout the years and after some bad choices.
But what matters is that they are some of the best well dressed women of the moment, and some of them aren't even 18, it's unbelievable.
Like Cara and Poppy Delevingne which in whatever event they appear they present themselves perfectly whether it is on a casual style or a red carpet look, but always sticking to their own style, or the Brandolini sisters or even the Courtin-Clarins. And what do they all have in common? They inspire the way of dressing of women throughout the world, they're real trendsetters.

Antes de mais desculpem pelo abandono temporário do blog mas estive doente e no hospital, o que não ajuda muito a actualizar os meus posts, mas estou melhor finalmente e de volta com as que considero as melhores capas de revistas deste último mês do ano.

The Fanning Sisters

Tomando como ponto de partida a fantástica capa da revista W do mês de Dezembro com Dakota e Elle Fanning vestidas em Valentino resolvi fazer um post dedicado a estas duas grandes actrizes.

Tanto uma como outra desde muito pequenas que se estrearam nos ecrãs de cinema.
Elle, com apenas 13 anos, já participou em mais filmes do que a sua própria idade, quando era mais pequena fazendo os papéis da irmão mais velha, Dakota, numa versão mais nova, como em "I am Sam" que interpreta a personagem de Dakota, Lucy, quando tem 2 anos. Ao crescer começa a criar um nome por si própria ao participar em filmes como Babel, A Porta no Chão e O Estranho Caso de Benjamin Button... e passando a ter papéis de destaque em Phoebe in Wonderland em que interpreta Phoebe, uma menina que não segue as regras que se refugia num mundo de fantasia, em Somewhere de Sofia Coppola no papel de Cleo a filha de 11 anos da personagem de Stephen Dorff dando um olhar único à vida e fama em Hollywood e, logo em seguida, em Super 8 como Alice num surpreendente filme de ficção científica que gira em volta da descoberta feita por um grupo de miúdos.
Seguindo os passos da irmã mais velha, brilha também no mundo da moda com mais editoriais este ano que os 13 anos que tem, e sendo estrela da campanha de Outono 2011 da Marc Jacobs e da curta metragem da Rodarte.

Dakota Fanning, agora com 17 anos, já há muito tempo que vem dando provas do seu talento para a representação. Desde o papel inesquecível de Lucy em "I am Sam", em que contracena com Sean Penn, que duvido que alguém se esqueça do seu nome. Conseguiu comover todos no papel de filha de Sam, um homem retardado, que luta pela custódia da filha. A partir daí, muitas foram as personagens que interpretou na perfeição como em Uptown Girls com Brittany Murphy, em que tem o papel de Ray, uma criança muito precoce, com mentalidade de adulta que sofre em silêncio com o relacionamento frio que tem com a mãe, Hide and Seek com Robert De Niro, War of the Worlds, The Secret Life of Bees, Push, na saga Twilight em que interpreta Jane, uma fria e cruel vampira e, finalmente, em The Runaways, no papel de Cherie Currie cantora da banda adolescente do anos 70 contracenando com Kristen Stewart no papel de Joan Jett.

As duas passaram de simples crianças para ícones no cinema e na moda, adoradas pelo público, fotógrafos, editores e designers.

After seeing the fantastic W cover for December 2011 featuring Dakota and Elle Fanning dressed in Valentino Haute Couture I decided I had to have a post entirely dedicated to them.

Both of them started their acting carreers at a really young age, delightining us with their performances on the big screens.
Elle, with only 13 years old, as already been on more movies than her own age, beggining playing the same parts of her big sister, Dakota, on a younger version, like on the movie "I am Sam" where she plays Dakota's character, Lucy, when she was 2. As she grew older she began to create a name of her own appearing on movies like "Babel", "The Door on the Ground" and "Benjamin Button"... and getting major roles on movies such as "Phoebe in Wonderland" where she is Phoebe, who doesn't follow the rules and starts living in her own fantasy world, "Somewhere" from Sofia Coppola on the role of Cleo, the 11 year old daughter of Stephen Dorff's character, in a unique take on the life, fame and stardoom of Hollywood, and, right after, in "Super 8" she plays Alice on a surprising and mystirious sci-fi movie about a discovery made by a group of kids.
Following on the steps of her older sister, she also shines on the fashion world having more editorials this year than the number of years she has, and being the face of Marc Jacobs Fall 2011 campaign and Rodart's short movie.

Dakota Fanning, now 17, has been giving us proof of her talent for years. Since her unforgettable role as Lucy on "I am Sam", where she shared the screen with Sean Penn, I doubt that anyone has forgotten her name. She managed to move everyone as the daughter of Sam, a mentally retarded man, who fights for his daughter's custody against all odds. Since then many were the roles she played with perfection, like in "Uptown Girls" with Brittany Murphy, where she has the role of Ray, a precocious little girl who acts like an adult and who suffers in silence with her cold and distant relationship with her mother, "Hide and Seek" with Robert De Niro, "War of the Worlds", "The Secret Life of Bees", "Push", the Twilight saga where she is Jane, a cold and cruel vampire, and, finnally, "The Runaways, on the role of Cherie Currie, a 70's teen band's singer and with Kristen Stewart playing Joan Jett.

Dakota and Elle went from being simple kids to film stars and fashion icons, loved by the public, photographers, editors and designers.
