Crop Tops, Now and Then

Falando das tendências para a Primavera deste ano, apenas a poucos meses de distância,  mas que já nos deixam com "àgua na boca" desde Setembro, sendo uma delas, o temido por algumas e desejado por outras, crop top. 
Pois é, se há altura para pôr essas barriguinhas no ponto é esta, pelo menos para quem faz alguma intenção de seguir esta tendência.
Mas será esta peça, que invadiu as passereles em Setembro, algo de novo? Claro que não, é apenas mais uma prova de como as "modas" são cíclicas, vêm e vão e voltam. E esta veio e foi não à muito tempo. Quem não se lembra de à uns 10 anos atrás ver por todo o lado raparigas de barriga à mostra com os típicos piercings no umbigo e calças ou saias de cintura super descida, ou até ser uma dessas raparigas?
Se antes este top era usado com partes de baixo de cintura super descida, ao típico estilo Britney Spears, agora é, principalmente, conjugado com calças, saias, calções de cinta subida, mostrando apenas um pouco de pele, num look mais elegante.
Desde Acne em Londres, Prada em Milão a Nina Ricci em Paris, esta peça de roupa surgiu nos mais variados estilos e feitios, resta descobrir o nosso preferido.

Speaking of this year's Spring trends, just a couple of months away, but that have been "watering our mouths" since September, being one of them, the feared by some and most desired by others, crop top.
That's right, if there's a time to work those abs this is it, at least for the ones who have any intention of following this trend.
But is this piece of clothing, that invaded the runways in September, something new? Of course not, it's just another proof of how fashion is cyclic, it comes and goes and then returns. And this one in particular came and went not a long time ago. Who doesn't remember, like 10 years ago, seeing young girls everywhere with her abs all showing, with their characteristic belly button rings and super low waisted trousers, or even being one of those girls?
If before this top was used with super low waisted bottoms, typical Britney Spears' style, now it is mostly conjugated with high waisted trousers, skirts, shorts, showing only a little bit of skin, on a more elegant style.
From Acne in London, Prada in Milan to Nina Ricci in Paris, this must-have piece resurged in many styles and shapes, we only have to figure out which is our favourite.

Stand Out with Boticca

A editora de moda da Boticca, um site de compra e venda de acessórios e joalharia de designers emergentes de todo o mundo, contando para já com 230 designers de quase 40 países, é a autora do post de hoje, onde nos explica um pouco sobre a ideia do site e nos apresenta algumas peças que podem comprar lá e os seus criadores.

This is the first guest post of my blog. The fashion editor of Boticca, an online marketplace of designer jewelry and accessories from all over the world, so far they have 230 designers from almost 40 countries, is the author of today's post, where she is going to explain a little the idea of the site and will present some pieces that can be bought there and its creators.

The festive periodbrings with it many things and one of the main ones is the plethora of partiesthat seem to get suddenly crammed into this two-month celebratory marathon.With so many parties to attend, how do you make sure you stand out for all theright reasons? The brainchild of Kiyan Foroughi andAvid Larizadeh, the creative spark behind Boticca was lit in Morocco. Kiyanhappened to meet a designer called Miriam in the souks and was quicklyenchanted by her work. He quickly discovered that there was far more than justbeauty to her work, it went further than that with her designs having both ameaning and a story. Frustrated with the fact that only a few lucky peoplewould get to experience her pieces, Kiyan and Avid sought to change that andthat is how Boticca came to be. 

So, during the festive period ourthoughts inevitably turn to looking good and standing out. Feeling fashionablyfestive I have decided to channel a chic black and gold vibe this year, bothfor practicality and sheer fashion-savvy reasons.

First on my list is Emma Guest’s Gold and ebony birdnecklace. Quirky and fun,this plastic and sterling silver chain is the perfect day to evening number.

Keeping with the necklace theme, witha number of evening soirees’s to attend this year; I am planning on vamping itup with Elvira Sazesh’s Golden Ring Necklace. The perfect combination of high-octane glam meetsunique chic.

Next on my list is Caipora Jewellery’s art necklace. Never one to rest on my fashion laurels, this is theperfect family gathering beauty.

When it comes to bracelets, I likethem big and bold and Zelia Horsley’s BLOCK&ROLLBRACELET is perfect forthose work festive drinks where you don’t want to look too overdone. With myhusband’s company hosting festive parties this year too, I have to find theperfect balance between chic fashionista meets corporate guru. Hating thefeeling of being overdressed, especially when it’s around a new crowd,something like Origami Jewellery’s Big Magic Ball necklace should see me through in style.

The return of the 60's

Uma grande tendência desta temporada é o estilo dos anos 60, uma das épocas preferidas de designers e público.
Esta temporada de Outono Inverno 2011 a Burberry, Prada, Jil Sander e Yves Saint Laurent foram algumas  das marcas que se inspiraram nesta época para as suas colecções, desde os colarinhos Peter Pan a silhuetas em A, num estilo Mod, ou marcadas, num estilo feminino...
Mas não é só nos desfiles que podemos ver este fascínio pela década de 60, também na televisão isso é bem vísivel em séries como Mad Men que já está a preparar a sua quinta temporada e tem tido imensa influência em vários designers e marcas e, agora também, a nova série Pan Am, com a actriz Christina Ricci no elenco, que promete manter muitas pessoas agarradas ao ecrã.
Pan Am, tal como o nome indica, é uma série que conta a história das hospedeiras e pilotos da famosa companhia aérea dos anos 60 com o mesmo nome, e traz-nos o lado feminino, elegante e sofisticado da época através das personagens e do seu guarda roupa.
As mulheres estão numa altura em que tentam agarrar a sua liberdade e uma boa forma de o fazer era tornarem-se hospedeiras e viajarem o mundo com classe. Desde os próprios uniformes à roupa que usam fora do avião podemos ver todo o glamour da época, onde ser uma hospedeira da Pan Am era o sonho de muitas raparigas. A década em que as estrelas eram os pilotos e as suas hospedeiras, em que voar na Pan Am era mais que o simples facto de ir de um sítio para outro, era uma verdadeira experiência.

A big trend this season is the 60's style, one of the designers and public favourite periods to revisit.
This Fall 2011 season brands like Burberry, Prada, Jil Sander and Yves Saint Laurent were inspired by this decade for the creation of their collections, from Peter Pan colars to A silhouettes, in a Mod style, or with cuts that drew attention to the wait and figure, in a more feminine style...
But this fascination for the 60's can not only be seen on the runway but also on TV in shows like Mad Men that is already preparing its 5th season and has been a big influence on fashion for a while now, many collections were visibly inspired by it, and now there's a new show called Pan Am, also about the 60's, featuring Christina Ricci as a flight attendant, that promises to keep many eyes on the screens.
Pan Am, like the name says, its a TV show that tells the story of stewardesses and pilots of the iconic airline of the 60's with that name, and brings us the feminine, elegant and sophisticated side of the period through the characters and their wardrobe.
Women are at a time when they want to start having some freedom, and what a better way to do that than to become stewardesses and travel the world with style. From the uniforms to their off duty outfits we can see all the glamour of the decade, when being a Pan Am flight attendant was the dream of many young girls. A time when the stars were the pilots and their stewardesses, when flying at Pan Am was more that simply going from one place to anotther, was a true experience.
